Accident? Chance? Ad hoc? Random? Unplanned? Without Design? Hard (Impossible?) to Believe!
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.” Ps 19:1-4
Disorder does not evolve into order and harmony – on the other hand order does devolve over time without a guiding and controlling force. To imagine that growth, order, beauty and patterns fall into place on their own is simply not credible – we do not see it in real life and should not expect it to occur in “nature.”
Given enough time, everything physical decays into nothingness and we would anticipate the same to occur in that which is not man-made – unless there is a Grand Designer who constructs using materials and tools beyond man’s understanding and ways.
Evolution (as it was apparently designed by the Great Designer) can account for some minor changes over time. But these changes are evolutionary, not revolutionary – they do not have a mind that can “create to need” as some attribute to it.
If evolution really works, how come mothers only have two hands? Milton Berle
Because creatures could benefit from seeing is no reason and basis for most creatures having two eyes – these eyes being many times more intricate than all the world’s scientists, over many years and with all their developed tools, controlled laboratory conditions and vast amounts of money can duplicate (much less imagine as an antecedent to their invention). Someone had to imagine seeing as a precursor to designing and executing these designs. To attribute this wisdom and ability to evolution is way beyond commonsense.
The universe, human body, eye, ear, or even a single cell is an orchestra with glorious music beyond anything man has thought, designed or certainly (in the combined efforts and time of all mankind) accomplished – to think a force without direction could achieve even the most basic of these (creating a single cell – which man has yet to accomplish) lacks any credibility.
Listen closely to the proponents of grand Evolution (versus the observable and well-known and understood micro-evolution principles) and their premise is that, of course, Evolution “naturally” sees a need and then fills that need – thus, the reason we have eyes, ears, noses, teeth . . . The universe, in seemingly following the same principles, provides the exact right conditions for producing and sustaining the current billions of people and animals on earth. On a relatively small, self-contained sphere, billions of people and animals are fed, several times daily, without any abilities on their part to “create” anything. Yes, we can (when provided the “seeds” of production), with care and effort, use these resources to aid in the production of food, clothes, homes, cars, furniture . . . But no one can make a valid claim that they have or can create anything without these (that some attribute as evolutionary and magical) elements. How can a self-contained sphere, as small as the earth, support all these great needs year after year after year?
If we, ourselves, don’t have the knowledge or talent to (as just one example) invent the ability for cars to “heal” themselves like the body does (even though the body is millions of times more complex than any machine) shouldn’t we expect all the great scientists working together to resolve this relatively (compared to what their beloved Evolution does) simple task? Wouldn’t it be expected that we would have evolved to this point by now?
But if you start with the premise that we have somehow developed beyond the ignorant men of the past (who believed in Creation), the only real option to fall back on is the second option, Evolution. Which is much like seeing a massive tractor in a field, failing to accept it could operate on its own and hooking a team of mules to it to drag it through the fields to plow! The Theory of Evolution addresses a small number of the issues of (and provides a few answers to) life with a Grand Designer and Creator, on the other hand, giving us an almost full picture of this truth and reality. In other words, the leap to/from Evolution as the cause and effect of all we see and experience is far far far greater than that to/from the Creation alternative. Accepting Evolution as the answer has been a virtual return to the Dark Ages and earlier – leaving us far fewer answers and solutions and many more questions. We do not recognize we are in trouble when there are multiple times more excitement about the next iPhone than in pursuing the purpose and end of life and any ability, here and now, to potentially and meaningfully affect our place in eternity. But this is the natural and only conclusion we can expect if we are simply the momentary evolutionary place-markers in a long unplanned, random, march of time (or is time simply a figment of our imagination?).
A flaw in Evolution as great logic is similar to that of many misguided religious people – they only believe what they can understand and explain. The most credible Evolutionists say everything (presumably time as well) started with a Big Bang. They can’t explain anything causing the Bang, only that this appears to be the starting point. Assuming that is true, this would lend even greater credibility that a Grand Designer, Mind, Scientist, Artist . . . used this method to create everything we see and know, not that an experiment blew up in his face, killing him and setting in motion an orderly and continuing harmonious and increasing creation resulting through Evolution. All credible evidence (physical, spiritual, written, experience of many people over a long history . . .) supports the fact that the Creator (if, indeed, He did use a Big Bang in His design process) instigated and survived the Bang and continues to control Creation down to now and even as we speak (before their Big Bang theory took off many of the Hyper-Evolutionists were saying God is Dead, but again, the evidence refutes this nonsense since The Creator seems to be actively supporting His Creation).
And then, we have the Bible, unchanged for a couple of thousand years, that provides verifiable answers and promises to the questions radical Evolutionists raise, but cannot themselves begin to answer. It is as if they have lost not only their minds, but their eyes and ears as well! Faith in Christ is a very interesting phenomenon, we don’t have to understand everything (in fact, we know we can’t), but it takes from what we can and do see, experience and know (what the Bible tells us we can and should know, seek and experience) and overlays it onto what we do not (and cannot) know so we believe in Him and all He says.
“The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.” Isa 40:28
William Jennings Bryan was certainly right when he observed:
Evolution seems to close the heart to some of the plainest spiritual truths while it opens the mind to the wildest guesses advanced in the name of science.
Evolution is a truth and reality, but it has nowhere near the power attributed to it. Uncontrolled and without design, Evolution would surely result in greater decline – not advancement, rather cannibalization versus diversity and beauty without bounds and beyond comprehension.
I believe in evolution. But I also believe, when I hike the Grand Canyon and see it at sunset, that the hand of God is there also. John McCain
Maybe a few pictures will highlight and demonstrate the issue more than many words:
Accident?
With all our technology, “wisdom,” talent time and money we haven’t produced anything nearly as glorious – compare the average of creation to the best of man and man’s best efforts are flat.
Chance?
Forget man – who gave animals their intuition and wisdom?
There is great diversity of the earth’s terrain versus the apparent blandness and lack of design of other planets that we can view – everything points to and supports meaning and design.
Ad hoc?
A handful of men, over more than a thousand years and unchanged or credibly challenged since then for 2,000 years, wrote a book detailing how men think and behave and, all the while, the full remainder of mankind cannot compile an alternative that has anywhere near the same level of acceptance for even 10 to 15 years before alternative theories take their place.
And that “smart” and supposedly wise and learned men, offering no alternative hope or logical explanations, can lead the majority along with them to an abyss of darkness and that many, if not most, of these people lead lives that make no sense in light of what they say they believe making the greatest of Christian hypocrites appear rational and reasonable refutes Evolution.
Random?
Evolution is a tool the Creator built into His creation to operate as a bit player. But when we major on the supporting actors in any book or play we will miss the grand purpose or theme – looking to Evolution, in life, as the key “driver,” ensures we will miss the Great Creator and Story.
Unplanned?
Without Design?
And who could have the sense of humor like The Creator? He loves beauty while also appreciating a laugh and smile:
“Since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities — his eternal power and divine nature — have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.” Ro 1:20
Oh, let it not be said of us:
“They have no regard for the deeds of the LORD, no respect for the work of his hands.” Isa 5:12
Look – Consider – Think – Decide – Live Your Decision!
All accidents, unplanned, spontaneous or signs and signals of God’s great “paint brush” of life and design?
But many people are like the man in the Luke 16:19-31 saying or thinking: “if God would just show and tell us . . .” or “if someone from the dead comes to us, we will repent.’ Lk 16:31 to which He replied” “If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.” God has given us His Word, in the Bible, and most people ignore it – He has given us untold signs (the above a miniscule portion of them) and we let others mislead us with their shallow and foolish accusations against Him and His clear signs. What else could we reasonably ask or expect?
